Okuma Celebrates 110th year with Double-Digit Growth  

OKUMA has announced an increase of 13.3 percent in sales over last year. This achievement makes the 2,674-employee company, which includes the former Okuma & Howa subsidiary, one of the largest machine tool manufacturers in the world.  

Around 8,000 machines were built by Okuma last year at its Oguchi, Kani and Konan plants near Nagoya. Click here for more information.

Machine tool distribution company Morris Group Inc. (MGI) scored a perfect 100% on Okuma's 2007 “Distributor Service Evaluation Scorecard.” Morris Midwest is part of Morris Group Inc.
   

Brand-New Powerful Tax Incentives For New Equipment Purchases In 2008

The recently enacted bipartisan Economic Stimulus Plan contains increased Section 179 expensing for 2008 small business equipment purchases, as well as a one-year 50% bonus depreciation allowance for new machine tools and other equipment ordered and placed in service during 2008. Morris Group Inc.'s Okuma Tower Achieves Platinum Level Service Ranking from Okuma

Windsor, CT: Morris Group, Inc. (MGI) announced today that its Okuma Tower received a perfect score on Okuma's 2007 Distributor Service Evaluation. “Scoring 100% on this demanding test requires real teamwork” explains Brad Morris, President. “Every department must contribute.” Morris Midwest is part of the Okuma Tower.

The score represents excellence in five major areas, which include: service testing on mechanical and electrical components, 24/7 service and parts availability, customer satisfaction, parts inventory, and service technician/machine install ratio.

Okuma America Corporation began the Distributor Evaluation Program in 2005. Since the program began, Okuma has focused on creating a service minded culture throughout its distribution chain. “Providing superior service is critical to long term customer satisfaction” continues Mr. Morris.

Ray Completes Okuma Apprenticeship Program

Darren Ray, Service Technician for Morris Midwest, has completed the 2007 Okuma Field Service Apprentice Program and finished third in his class. Ray, who lives in Neenah, had an average score of 96.24% while first place was 96.88%--only 0.64% difference.

Carl Zeiss Announces Morris Midwest as New Distributor for Northern Illinois

Carl Zeiss Industrial Metrology (IMT) today announced Morris Midwest as a new distributor of ZEISS metrology equipment for Northern Illinois. Morris Midwest, a division of the Morris Group, with offices in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Hoffman Estates, Illinois, will represent the full line of ZEISS products including coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and surface, form and geometry (SF&G) instruments.

Morris Midwest Employee Leading in Points at Meadowview Kartway

2007 marked Rob’s 3rd full time season racing go-karts. The season was highlighted with 5 feature wins at Meadowview Kartway including 3 clean sweeps. Rob also won his first time racing on asphalt at the famous Slinger Super Speedway in the F200 Senior class. Rob also won the Meadowview Kartway track championship by 819 points.
